Round 12 Clash in the Comer Comets Mens Competition Monday 13/02/2012 – Southside Auto Auctions VS ABS.
On a warm steamy night with plenty of dew on the pitch after a couple of days on continual rain downfall.
The game was to commence on what was expected to be a very tight tough game between these two sides.
The ABS team started the game on fire with a quick try in the first five minutes of the game, however Southside Auto auctions fought back soon after with an electric try splitting the defence down the middle.
The game for the remainder was a tussle with neither side prepared to give up that football, until fatigue set in just short of half time the Abs capitalized on an error from Southside auto auctions and crossed over for a try just short of halftime.

Down but certainly not out – Southside Auto auctions vice captain Wayne Phinney addressed the team by stating “ I may not know a lot about touch but I do know that we need to improve our defence and number up on our opposition.
With this in mind Southside Auto Auctions Came out firing with the ABS team struggling to find holes in the defence.
Shortly after Southside Auto Auctions leveled up with a try through a gap to make the score 2-2.
Again with the defence staying strong from Southside they were able to cross the line again leading the Game 3-2 with ten minutes to go.
However a few minutes later again fatigue started to set in and The ABS team leveled the score once again making it 3-3 with 6 minutes to go.
Then defending on their own line the ABS team had the ball trying to again penetrate the Southsides defence, when captain Darren Cowan got an intercept and ran the length of the field only to be caught short of the line.
The ball once again however was handed over to the ABS team with side to side footy going on for the last few minutes.
With 2 minutes to go the Southside Auto Auctions team through the ball around like the “Harlem Globetrotters” finding a gap with big Vinny crossing over to win the game for Southside Auto Auctions.
Final Score = Southside Auto Auctions 4 defeated the ABS team 3
A fierce game that lived up to its expectations.
